Planning Items are attached to Cost Formulas and used to record costs and recovery %. Planning Items are similar to non-inventory tracked Item Codes and examples may include things like: Labor, Overhead, Packaging, Raw Material, etc. They are used in the Inventory functional Area for Bill of Materials. The purpose of this page is to add, edit, remove, and activate/inactive these records.

Item

A text box to add or edit the unique identifier of the Planning Item. This defaults to blank but is required for all records. If missing, the message "A Planning Item ID is required." will be displayed on Save. The ID must be unique, otherwise the message "Duplicate Items are not allowed." will be displayed on Save. This field must be <= 25 characters.

Scaling Method

A single select standard lookup to identify how the planning item scales on Cost Breakdown formulas. This field is required and is always editable. The available options include:

  • Use BOM Recovery: Use this method if the Planning Item inherits the recovery from the Cost Breakdown formula.
  • Manually Set on BOM: Use this method if the Planning Item's recovery must be manually set on each Cost Breakdown formula.

This lookup contains all the values in the BOMScalingMethod Enumeration Class.
