The Available balance reflects the quantity of inventory that is available to be allocated to a Sales or Inventory transaction. Available balances are calculated in real-time as quantities (on participating transactions) are updated and saved. The Available Balance is calculated as follows:
Operator | Balance Type | Example | Comment |
---|---|---|---|
Start with | On Hand | 1,000 | |
Subtract | On Hold | 0 | For a Lot on hold, if the On Hand balance is >0, this would represent the On Hand balance, otherwise this would be 0.00 |
Subtract | Committed (-) | 700 | The ordered / requested balance, that has not yet been allocated, on an open transaction for outgoing product. If Allocated is less than Ordered, then it is calculated as: [Ordered] - [Allocated] otherwise it is 0.00. |
Add | Committed (+) | 200 | The ordered or requested balance, that has not yet been allocated, on an open transaction for incoming product. If Allocated is less than Ordered, then it is calculated as [Ordered] - [Allocated] else 0.00. |
Subtract | Allocated (-) | 400 | The allocated balance, on an open transaction, for outgoing product. |
Add | Allocated (+) | 100 | The allocated balance, on an open transaction, for incoming product. |
Available Balance | 200 |
The Available balance calculation is dynamic based on how the the following Inventory Preferences are configured:
- Include Shipped & Approved Sales Orders in On Hand balances
- Include open Adjustment transactions in Available balances
- Include open Production transactions in Available balances
- Include open Receipts transactions in Available balances
- Include open Transfer transactions in Available balances
