NS-13281, NS-12599 and, NS-12476: Added Production Costing and Cost Distribution Features to NorthScope

Some NorthScope features are cut and dried. A collection of bullet points under the word Expectations on the development requirements document. This is not one of those types of features; this feature is a labor of love, an ode, an epic. This is the new Production Costing and Cost Distribution. A suite of features, really.

We think you’ll also think these features are sweet: Production Costing and Cost Distribution. Sounds simple enough, right? What if we said that Production Costing automatically calculates base and layer costs from input item costs and cost items? Of course, those costs can be overwritten, if you need to tweak the calculation. Oh, did we mention that the costs now post to the General Ledger. Product Costs are also more visible in the analysis list views and inquiries.

Now, if that was the only component we added, it would be something to celebrate. We’re overachievers, though, so we’ve also added Cost Distributions. Do you need to be able to distribute Storage Fees recorded on an AP Invoice to a specific Lot? Easy. Do you need to include a Handling charge bill in the cost of a portion of the contents of a lot? Maybe you need to know the cost of inventory allocated on a Sales Order that was shipped in the middle of a number of receipts. No problem!
