NS-13850 - ACH Accounts: Prenotes Are Optional, but Bank Rejections Are Still Mysterious

Setting up new Vendor or Fisher ACH accounts used to require saving the account as a prenote before it could be used. In practice, that meant users had to save the account, go back in, and change it from prenote to active before the account was ready. Since users could immediately remove the prenote status anyway, this was less of a safeguard and more of a tiny paperwork treadmill.

We’ve removed that requirement. Users can now set up ACH accounts without first saving them as prenotes, making the setup process faster and less clicky.

That said, prenotes still exist for a reason. Their job is to help validate the ACH connection before real money starts moving around, which is generally a nice thing when banks are involved. If an ACH transmission is rejected, the bank may not provide much detail about what went wrong. So while NorthScope no longer requires a prenote, skipping it can make bad routing or account data harder to troubleshoot later.

NS-13392 - Sales Programs: Off Book Amounts Finally Show Up Where the Other Program Amounts Do

NorthScope has supported Off Book sales programs for years. These programs allow amounts to be tracked in the sales subledger without posting to the GL, which is useful when you need the visibility without the full accounting fireworks show.

The problem was that our sales order and sales item views already showed amounts for the other sales program types — Brokerage, Rebates, and Other Accrual — but Off Book was left out. So if users wanted to see what was happening with Off Book programs, they had to open records one at a time like they were conducting a tiny financial investigation with a magnifying glass and dwindling patience.

We’ve added a new Off Book Amt. column to the same list views and inquiries where the other program amount columns are available, including:

  • Sales Transaction

  • Sales Item

  • Sales Shipments

  • Sales Transaction History

  • Sales Item History

  • Sales Shipment History

The new column is placed after Other Accrual Amt. and gives users a much easier way to review Off Book program amounts directly from the grids.

While we were there, we also fixed an issue where several amount and margin columns were not displaying values correctly on the Shipment List View and Shipment Inquiry, including product cost, gross margin, freight, brokerage, other accrual, and net margin values.

System

NS-12759 - NorthScope IO: The Integration Conveyor Belt Is Moving Again

NorthScope IO — the companion app that helps move data between NorthScope and partner systems — got some attention this release. Specifically, we improved one of the key transfer paths so NorthScope can more reliably send data from its database out to partner services.

That may not sound flashy, but integrations are basically a conveyor belt in a seafood plant: nobody writes poems about them when they work, but everyone notices when they stop moving.

This improvement helps keep supported partner data transfers flowing as expected. Customer-specific integration rules and custom partner logic are still handled separately, because integrations are never one-size-fits-all no matter how hard we squint at them.

In short: NorthScope IO is better at moving the data it is supposed to move, where it is supposed to move it. Quietly useful and deeply unglamorous.

Bugs

Fisherman Accounting

NS-13937 - eLandings Integration: Chill Type Now Makes the Trip

Fish Tickets created in NorthScope or brought in through an external integration can be sent on to eLandings. We found that the ticket’s Chill Type value was not being included in that outbound handoff, which is not ideal when the field is sitting right there on the Fish Ticket politely expecting to be useful.

We’ve fixed the integration so the Fish Ticket Header’s Chill Type is now sent to eLandings when it has been set in NorthScope.

NS-13970 - FA Ticket Purchases Report: Posted and Open Can Sit Together Now

The FA Ticket Purchases NS report had a very specific problem: if users selected both Posted and Open in the Include options, the report crashed instead of, you know, reporting. A bold choice for a report, but not a helpful one.

We’ve fixed the shipped version of the report so Posted and Open can now be selected together without causing an error. The report will run and display tickets based on the selected criteria as expected.

NS-13994 - Customer Sales: Voiding the Sale Now Takes the Payment Receipt With It

Voiding a Customer Sale with a related Payment Receipt was leaving behind a very awkward loose end. The Customer Sale would void, but the Payment Receipt could stay active, sitting there like nothing happened. Not great. Also not especially “voided,” spiritually speaking.

We’ve fixed the void process so when a Customer Sale with payments is voided, NorthScope now checks for a related Payment Receipt and includes it in the void automatically. Users no longer need to go hunting for the Payment Receipt and void it separately like some kind of accounting cleanup side quest.
