A Layer Cost reflects a new cost that is added to the Base Cost that typically happens after the 'Born on Date'. The most common scenario for a Layer Cost is to record monthly storage amounts and/or transfer freight expenses. An Actual Cost Layer reflects the 'Layer Cost' assigned within the Actual cost type. The Actual layer cost(s) are added to the Actual base cost to compute total Actual cost.
