Feature Spotlight! NS-7112 Updates to the Sales Functional Area - BETA

Big news! The highly anticipated update to the Sales functional area is here. As a result of feedback gathered from our customers, the Sales functional area has been redesigned with users in mind. Many of the pages have been converted to the NorthScope™ 3.0 framework. Additionally, we made fixes under the hood to increase performance and decrease processing time. Buckle up, because we’re about to share a whole lot of exciting features and information!

Let’s get started. The Sales Transactions, Sales Items and Sales Shipments List Views have a slightly different look and feel, but rest assured, all the existing functionality is still available. We standardized available columns and column names across all List Views, as it made sense.

To match each of the List Views, we’ve added a corresponding History Inquiry. Users may search Sales Transaction History, Sales Item History and Sales Shipment History Inquiries using consistent search options that appear across each of the sales inquiries. As with the List Views, there are also more standardized columns to choose from. The existing Billing History Inquiry was also revamped to contain the same search options. And because they are all 3.0 framework inquiries, users have the option to save search options and column layouts.

From the Sales Transactions List View, users may click the New button to display a dropdown of all active transaction classes. If a Sales Order or Quote is selected, the Select Ship-To Record View launches. We’ve added ‘Carrier’ and ‘Freight Terms’ fields in both the header and as columns in the Customer Address grid (see Note 1). From the Select Ship-To Record View, click the button to Find Items, Find Items with Balances, Find Lots or Go directly to the Order. The Select Items Record View was given a facelift and renamed to the Find Items Record View. This Record View still allows users to assign items, quantities and prices to Sales Orders and Quotes. We also have given the ability to see available and on hand balances at the item and site level so you know what you have before you sell it. The Find Lots Record View allows users to search for and allocate inventory lots to Sales Orders and Quotes. Previously, users were only able to access the Find Lots Record View from the Sales Transaction List View after a transaction was created. Now, allocating inventory lots to a transaction can be done prior to creating a transaction. A win-win. Clicking Go to Order will navigate the user to the new Sales Transaction Record View.

The Sales Transaction Record View is noticeably faster than before. There is a new ‘Actual Ship’ field in the Home tab that populates the ‘Shipped’ field in the Shipments tab. We’ve also implemented some user-friendly feedback on how to more easily add items to the Order or Quote. There are 3 ways to add items to the Items grid. First, click the Add Items button to add a blank row in the grid. Users may enter all or part of an Item ID or Description in the ‘Item’ text box and hit the Enter or Tab key on the keyboard. If a complete Item ID is entered, the line item will be automatically filled with all the item default information. If more than one item matches the Item ID or Description entered, then an Item Lookup dialog box will open with a list of items. From the Item Lookup dialog box, users may check the checkbox next to one or multiple item(s) to add to the transaction using the Save & Close button. The second way to add item(s) is to use the Find Items button. The Find Items Record View has the ability to assign items, quantities and prices to Sales Orders and Quotes. This Record View incorporates an Order Summary tab that is updated each time Refresh is clicked. Additionally, the Customer Info tab shows credit information for the associated customer without having to separately open the Customer Record View. Thirdly, the Find Lots Record View may also be used to add item(s). This is a two-in-one option, as users are adding and allocating items at the same time. One final note – the auto allocation feature has been removed and users must now manually allocate by warehouse lot or inventory lot.

If questions arise, a Help icon has been added to each updated page. Or as always, feel free to call us up!

(lightbulb) Note 1: The preference to specify ‘Do Sales Orders Require a Carrier’ has been removed from the Preferences page and is now a Transaction Class property. Several new Transaction Class properties for ‘Default Carrier’, ‘Default Freight Terms’ and ‘Require Freight Terms’ have also been added.

(lightbulb) Note 2: The following items are still under development and will be implemented in phase 2 and beyond: Contracts and multiple shipments for the same transaction.

Bug Fixes

Fisherman Accounting

NS-8471 Incorrect decimal places are used when adding a new Transfer line on a Tender Resale

When selecting the “Transfer” item in the item dropdown on a Tender Resale, the price would be rounded to the nearest whole number. This is no longer the case and will round to the item setup for price decimals.

Technical Changes

  • No schema changes.
  • No config file changes.
