Print Dialog

The Print Dialog box is accessed via the Print toolbar icon in multiple module system, list and record views.

Fields

Print Documents For

  • Selected Records: Allows users to print documents from records that have been selected from the module list view.

  • All Filtered Records: Allows users to print documents from records that have been filtered from the module list view.

  • Report Name: Displays a list of the report types available to the user to print documents for. These reports can be setup in System: Manage Reports to enable them to be displayed in the print dialog box.

  • Help: Displays a hyperlink with the value 'View' that opens the corresponding help page for the selected/filtered report/s.  If no help page exists for the associated report, this field will be blank. 

  • Export Formats Allowed: Displays the format type the associated report can be printed in. The available formats can be setup by selecting one or more format type for the report in System: Manage Reports.

Note: Not all formats are available for each report type.

Print

  • Print Preview: Allows the user to preview the document or multiple documents for the selected/filtered records. 

    • Preview button: Displays the documents for the selected/filtered records, selected report/s in the format the user has selected. The documents will download in the user’s browser and/or in the user’s download folder on their local drive.

  • Send to Printer: Displays a dropdown menu with the available direct printers for the user to select. Direct printers can be setup in System: Direct Printers.

    • Print button: Sends the documents to the selected printer to be printed.

  • Export/Email Format: Displays a dropdown menu with the available report formats for the user to select. Note: The user will only be able to select the report format that is displayed under the Export Formats Allowed column for the selected report to be printed.

    • Export button: Allows the user to export the documents for the report/s and format selected by the user. The selected format must be displayed in the Allowed Format column for the associated report.

Email

This feature can be enabled by completing the ‘Email Processing Package Location’ information in System: Preferences.

  • From: This field is not required and will send from the user who is logged into NorthScope.

  • To: Allows the user to enter the email addresses the reports are to be sent to.

  • Subject: Allows the user to enter a subject for the email. This field is not required and will display a default subject if not provided.  This field is available in system security control (System > Security Groups) to allow users to set security levels to either Full Rights, Read Only or No Rights for this field.

  • Message: Allows the user to enter a message to the recipients. This field is not required, however in addition to any text added by the user, the body of the message will also contain “Sent from the desk of {NorthScope User Name} {NorthScope User Email Address). This field is available in system security control (System > Security Groups) to allow users to set security levels to either Full Rights, Read Only or No Rights for this field.

    • Email button: Will send the email for the document/s selected above.  A message is displayed to the user confirming the report has been queued for emailing.

Note: Email reports from the Print Window are supported in the following file formats: .pdf, .xls, .csv, .doc (provided the report has been setup with these formats) and when launched from a record view attachments will contain a file in the format [Report Name] - [Transaction ID].

Note: Reports generated from Report Distribution will remain in .pdf format only. 

Direct Query Reports

There is a feature to be able to create reports directly from a query.  Once the query is executed, it is processed by NorthScope based on the Export Type Option selected.  The two Export Type Options available are ‘With Column Headings’, where columns headings are included and ‘Without Column Headings’, where column headings are not included in the document.  The reports will be displayed in the Print Dialog box with the Allowed Format as ‘Text’.  These documents only Export and in ‘Text’ format.  Once downloaded the file will be displayed in .csv format.
