Creating a New User

To create a new user, expand the System module, click on Users and click the New toolbar icon. The record view will open with three tabs, Properties, Security and Preferences. The Properties tab will be the only one enabled initially.
Completing the Properties tab
Email: Enter the email address of the User. This is used as the username when the user logs in to the system. This field is required when new user record is being created and the field is not editable after the initial save.
First Name: Enter the First Name of the User. This field is required.
Last Name: Enter the Last Name of the User. This field is required. Note: First Name and Last Name combination is used in certain warning messages and transaction properties.
Phone: Enter the Phone Number of the User. The number can be entered with a dash separator.
Password: Enter a Password the User will use to login into the system. This field is required.
License Type: Select the License Type from the dropdown menu. There are two different License Types, System and Portal. A System user will have access to all of NorthScope depending on the Security Group the user belongs to. A Portal user will only have access to specific Report functions of NorthScope. This field is required.
Default Company: Select the Company from the dropdown menu which will be the default for the user when they login to the system.
Note: This field will be disabled until the Security tab has been completed, the Security tab is enabled after the record is saved via the Save toolbar.
Once the record is saved the User’s name will be displayed in the User field in the record header and a dropdown is enabled to be able to select other user’s records to edit/update if needed.
Completing the Security tab
Company Name: Displays the Company Names previously setup in System > Companies. For more information on Companies, see the help documentation here.
Access: Check the box/boxes to allow users access to the selected company/companies.
Security Group: Select the security group name (previously setup) from the dropdown menu for the user. This field is not required to save the user record, but a user is prevented from logging in to the system until a security group has been assigned. This field is always editable. Default Page: Select the page from the dropdown menu that loads as the default page when the user logs into the system. This field defaults to the System: About page.
Completing the Preferences tab
There are a few system preferences that can be entered for the user on this tab.
eLandings Username: Enter the user’s username for eLandings.
eLandings Password: Enter the user’s password for eLandings.
eLandings Schema Version: This value is not editable and defaults to the current eLandings Version.
Default Inside Salesperson: This field allows to configure a default inside salesperson for the user. This is used as the default inside salesperson property on Sales Order transactions. The drop-down menu displays all active inside type salespeople configured in the system. This field is not required and is always editable.
Default Salesperson: This field allows to configure a default outside salesperson for the user. This is used as the default salesperson property on Sales Order transactions. The drop-down menu displays all active outside sale type salespeople configured in the system. This field is not required and is always editable.
Date Format: This field allows a date format preference for the user. The drop-down menu displays three different date formats available to the user. The selected date format will be displayed throughout the system for the user.
Once all three tabs are completed, click the Save toolbar icon and close the record view. The new user will be displayed in the list view. Users can access their own profile page by expanding the System menu and clicking My Profile to edit their own preferences as needed.
